What actually happens before a review goes live

People sometimes ask how long we play a game before writing about it. The honest answer is: until we have something real to say. For a quick arcade title that might be a few hours across a few days. For an RPG it could be a couple of weeks.

We install everything on real phones, usually a mix of newer and older ones, so we can tell if a game runs smoothly for people who aren't carrying the latest hardware. A lot of games look great on a flagship and fall apart on anything three years old.

We take notes constantly while playing, not just at the end. First impressions fade fast, and a game that feels amazing in hour one can wear thin by hour five. Capturing both is the only way to be fair.

Then we sit down and argue. Ratings here come out of actual disagreement, because we don't all like the same things. That tension usually produces a more honest verdict than any one of us would land on alone.

None of this is glamorous, but it's why we can stand behind what we publish. We'd rather run fewer reviews and mean every word than crank out quick takes on games we barely touched.
